The RNLI West Mersea Lifeboat

Welcome to West Mersea Lifeboat Station Website

The Lifeboat Station is located on the Coast Road waterfront, offering sheltered launching and recovery for our Inshore Lifeboat and has been in operation since 1963.

The station is ideally positioned to respond to the many calls for assistance from mariners and people in the rivers Blackwater and Colne as well as assisting with medical evacuations from Mersea and Osea Islands when the tide covers their causeways.

Mersea is one of the busiest Lifeboat Stations in the area, usually having 50 to 70 ‘shouts’ a year, most of them in the summer. The lifeboat station is open to the public for visits at weekends in the summer and has a small RNLI Gift Shop. Organised group visits may also be arranged for other times.

We would like to thank the local community for their valuable support over the years in helping us continue to save lives at sea.

We do hope you enjoy your visit to the website, we have tried to make it as informative and interesting as possible.
