Lifeboat launched to van flooded on rising tide
On Thursday October 12 West Mersea RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Just George, launched on service to investigate a van flooded on the Osea causeway.
The West Mersea Lifeboat discovered a vehicle almost completely submerged by the rising tide on the Osea causeway. With water lapping over the roof of the van and the tide still coming up the police requested the West Mersea Lifeboat to investigate whether anyone was inside. After gaining access our volunteer crew discovered the airbags had been deployed but no person was inside. A marker buoy was attached to the vehicle as a warning to passing boats and the lifeboat returned to the station.
