Our Guild has the dual role of raising funds to support the work of the RNLI and of raising awareness of the work both nationally and locally. We are delighted to enjoy a close relationship with our Station and crew.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the Lifeboat Station. We have an enjoyable time running a wide range of activities such as the Burns Night with piper, traditional menu and the address to the haggis given by one of our Helmsmen Gordon, and Variety Evening including a star turn by the crew. Our quiz is hosted by another of our Helmsmen Jason and of course, the ever popular Boxing Day Dip would not be possible without the support of the crew.
Cake making seems to have taken on a major role with the Station Open Day, Regatta tea stand, coffee morning and running the tea tent at the 5 Parishes Show. However, it is not an essential requirement for membership!
Apart from the organisation of particular events, our Souvenir Secretary ensures that the Station is open to visitors every weekend for over half the year so that many people are able to see and hear about our boat as well as buying souvenirs – and of course Christmas cards.
We are always on the lookout for new fundraising ideas and welcome new members to support the work. Do think about joining us – we like to think that we are a friendly group! More details can be given if you phone 01206 382921.
